We have been a member of BASIS, the British Association for Sustainable Sport, since 2021. Each year we continue our active engagement with other members of the UK’s hub for sustainability in sport to harness our collective power and build a more sustainable future for our industry.

Silverstone has achieved certification to the environmental management system (EMS) standard ISO 14001, recognising its sustainability commitment to reduce carbon emissions, amongst other initiatives including action to enhance biodiversity conservation, reduce reliance on plastic and being powered by 100% green electricity.

On the eve of the Formula 1 Lenovo British Grand Prix 2022, we became the first motor racing venue to join the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Sports for Climate Action Framework. Other notable signatories of the framework include the FIA, Formula 1, Formula E, FIFA and UEFA. Our commitment is to reduce our carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by 2040.

In October 2023, Silverstone was awarded FIA 3 Star Environmental accreditation by the FIA in recognition of the impressive progress being made on its journey to a net zero future. Three stars is the highest level of accreditation available and reserved for those demonstrating best practice.

In January 2024, Silverstone was awarded the Greengage ECOsmart Platinum Award. This is an improvement from 2023, when we achieved the Gold award. This recognition addresses our advanced steps taken as a venue to achieve a wide range of eco-focused actions.

In July 2025, Silverstone announced it has become a signatory to the Sport for Nature Framework, joining a growing global movement that harnesses the power of sport to protect and restore nature. This landmark commitment builds on Silverstone’s broader Shift to Zero strategy, reinforcing the venue’s ambition to lead in sustainability both on and off the track.

Tem’s redefining how the world transacts energy, helping businesses all across the UK pay up to 25% less for energy while finally understanding what they're paying for. Tem was founded in 2021 by four former Limejump employees, Joe McDonald, Jason Stocks, Bartlomiej Szostek, and Ross Mackay, who saw first-hand the inefficiencies and inflated costs of buying energy through the wholesale market. Their proprietary AI-powered platform replaces the wholesale market, and provides a new standard of transparency on energy transactions, showing businesses where their money goes. RED, tem’s platform that customers use to manage everything related to their energy, is now powering over 2,500 UK businesses and has been proudly powering the British home of motorsport, Silverstone, since 2024.
